The historical town of Toro is located only 30 km from Zamora. Situated over the Duero River, it’s a beautifully preserved town with an impressive Romanesque Collegiate Church. Toro is also renowned for its excellent wines and wineries, many of which can be visited.

Sanabria is located in the mountainous northwest region of Zamora. Nestled in amongst the surrounding mountains, the Lake of Sanabria is the largest glacial lake in the Iberian Peninsula. The region contains a number of enchanting villages that are noteworthy for their Popular style architecture.

Lake Sanabria, Ribadelago (a typical village of the area), the Romanesque church of San Martín, and Puebla de Sanabria.
A full day tour of the area may include the lakes of Villafafila where bird watchers will delight in finding a breeding ground for a variety of bird species. Also of note in the area is the cisterciense styled monastery of Santa María. The city of Benavente is the final highlight of the region with its Parador and several important Romanesque churches.
